Description
“Lucky Star” was written and illustrated by Kagami Yoshimizu. The anime and manga follows the day-to-day life of high school girls, Konata, Tsukasa, Kagami and Miyuki. Yes… high school… even though they all look prepubescent, the girls are actually 17 years old! Oh, Japan, you’re so silly! 17 year olds don’t look like that! Anyway, it is a slice of life comedy where basically nothing really happens; but you may find it funny when they make silly quips about the situations they’re in. Sometimes Lucky Star is very.. very boring… but if you like cute girls and not thinking about big things, then Lucky Star is for you!
About the Mangaka
Kagami Yoshimizu’s manga, Lucky Star began serialization in the magazine Comptiq in december of 2003. Cameos of Lucky Star were also in other magazines such as Shounen Ace. In high school, Kagami Yoshimizu enjoyed drawing, and he started drawing manga strips that included his classmates. Eventually he started taking illustration work seriously, and began attending a technical school to work toward becoming a manga artist.
Characters
Konata Izumi
Konata is the protagonist and the leader of the Lucky Star crew. She is laid back and sarcastic, yet also friendly. Her grades aren’t doing too well thanks to how lazy she is… usually she pulls all-nighters for tests instead of studying in advance. Konata is also a hardcore otaku and owns multiple pieces of anime merchandise.
Kagami Hiiragi
Kagami is the older twin sister of Tsukasa Hiiragi. She is a stereotypical tsundere, which means that she is very rude to others to mask her true feelings. Despite her egotistical exterior, she is constantly trying to hide her attachment to her friends, especially Konata. She really enjoys mocking Konata for her small height as well.
Tsukasa Hiragi
Tsukasa is the younger twin sister of Kagami Hiragi. Tsukasa is the opposite of her sister, being naive, innocent and also a little shy. She needs her sister’s help for a lot of things since she is very stupid compared to her. Because she’s an idiot, she has very bad grades at school.
Miyuki Takara
Miyuki is another member of Konata’s friend group and is the stereotypical “healing character”. She is smart and kind, yet can be a little careless at times. Though she is known as a bit reserved, Miyuki can be outgoing when she wants to be. She’s the cutest one in her group and also the voice of reason.
